Spook -Tacular Halloween Festivals 2016

BOO! Over the weekend the tennis centre was transformed into a haunted house, playing host to a junior tennis festival and for the first time an adults doubles festival. On Saturday afternoon 12 juniors took part in Halloween themed tennis festival. Billed as tennis with fun, friends and food it didn't disappoint. All matches were played in a fantastic spirit (pun intended) and the juniors were a credit to themselves making a new competitor from South Ribble feel really welcome. Luciano won 'Best Outfit!'   Spook- tacular tennis was on display, toffee apples were munched and  shots of the round were

Howdy y’all! US Open Tennis Festival 2016

Howdy y'all! Today in the September sunshine Clitheroe became the big apple as we headed stateside for the US Open Tennis Festival. Star and striped flags and bunting hung across the nets. Courts were renamed - Fifth Avenue and Times Square. Music played, pizza and nachos were snacked on and everyone entered into the spirit of the festival- fun, friends and food! The festival was a round robin format, with timed matches of 13 minutes. Unlucky for some? We had prizes of t shirts, drink bottles and sun glasses for 'shot of the round' which provided a sub plot to

Summer County Cup Eastbourne Division 1 2016

For the last 17 years the 4th week in July has only ever meant one thing - County Week. I made my debut in the senior Lancashire team aged 14 at Division 1 - in at the deep end! The 121st Summer County Cup event takes place at 13 different grass court venues. This doubles only event saw 40 counties battle it out for promotion and avoid relegation from their respective groups. Six counties (per gender) in Group One will battle it out at the end of the week to see who will be crowned County Champion. COME ON LANCS!

Wimbledon Fever 2016

Today has been an awesome day. Fact. 24 kids playing tennis, having fun with friends, scoffing strawberries and all going home with prizes, certificates but more importantly smiles on their faces. 10am meant one thing. An orange ball event for the first time. BOOM -we smashed it.  It was fantastic to see so many excited kids, dressed in their all whites eagerly anticipating the tournament. For a large percentage it was their first ever 'tournament'. Funny face photo!   My aim was simple. I wanted to show that competing can be a really fun part of tennis, regardless

Female coaching workshop WTA Aegon Birmingham Classic 2016

Last Thursday, 16th June I was invited as 1 of 12 female coaches in the UK to a female coaching workshop at the WTA Aegon Birmingham Classic. A 6.30am taxi, a 7.17am train and I arrived into New Street at just after 9am ready and raring to go (to Starbucks for breakfast!) This was a fantastic opportunity and a behind the scenes workshop where we could see how all parts of such a large and important tournament operates as well as Q and A's with other coaches, physios, media, the tournament director and stringers. It was also great to catch

P-A-R-T-why? Website Launch 23rd April 2016

On Saturday it was fab-u-lous to change out of my tracksuit, dress up and celebrate the launch of my website with friends and clients. Champagne was popped, speeches made (eek!) and pizza, chicken goujons and nanchos rolled out long into the evening. It was a proud moment in my professional coaching career and I wanted to mark this special occasion as a lot of time and effort has gone into my website - with thanks to Kate. Logo cupcakes, helium balloons and giant stenciled tennis balls helped set the scene of what was a fantastic evening enjoyed by all. I'm

Favourite photo- Liverpool International 2007

I love photographs. I love this photograph. That moment, that feeling, impossible to reproduce, captured in film forever.  I only have to glance at or think of this photo I am transported back in time to Summer 2007 with a smile. I had qualified for the Liverpool International a grass court tournament and legends exhibition held a week before Wimbledon. It was a fantastic but surreal few days; I shared a limo ride with Bjorn Borg, got put up in a swanky hotel and recorded my first (only!) top 100 WTA singles win. In between all this it rained a
